Pep: What Happens If We Are Relegated?

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has explained why signed a contract extension with the club despite their on-going case.

The Premier League champions announced on Thursday night that the Spaniard had put pen-top-paper on a two-year extension that will keep him at the club until 2027.

The six-time Premier League winner admitted leaving at the end of the current season would not feel right.

"I felt I could not leave now, simple as that," Pep said,.

"Don't ask me the reason why. Maybe the four defeats were the reason why and I felt I cannot leave. I felt the club still want me or had the fact that we were together and that's the reason why we sign."

"I want to be honest, I thought this [season] should be the last one. But the problems we had in the last month, I felt now was not the right time to leave."

Guardiola also reiterated he will stay at the Eithad even if the club are potentially relegated due to the on-going case with the Premier League.

"I said that six months ago. You have my interviews," he said, as per BBC.

"I said when all the clubs accused us of doing something wrong and people say 'what happens if we are relegated?' I will be here.

"I don't know the position they are going to bring us, the Conference? [But] next year we will come up and come up and come back to the Premier League.

"I knew it then, I feel it now."
