Bucs Team Changes: Pirates Out To Cement Top Spot

Orlando Pirates players during the 2024 Carling Knockout Cup football match between Pirates and Magesi FC at Orlando Stadium, Soweto on 18 October 2024

Orlando Pirates will have another opportunity to open the gap at the top of the Betway Premiership log in their match on Tuesday night, with Jose Riveiro and the team having made their intentions clear about challenging for the title this season.

For their seventh match of the campaign, the Buccaneers will welcome Richards Bay FC to Orlando Stadium aiming to maintain their 100%-win record.

Bucs are on 18 points, with one of their six wins so far this season achieved against Richards Bay in the fixture played at the King Zwelithini Stadium in KwaZulu-Natal in September where Kabelo Dlamini scored the only goal of the match.

With the rest of the teams in the league in recess due to the FIFA international break, Bucs will be joined by Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch FC on duty who will be playing against Polokwane City and TS Galaxy respectively on Wednesday due to their involvement in continental competitions.

While Bucs have key players returning from injury, there are concerns over only defender Deano van Rooyen who picked up an injury against AmaZulu FC over a week ago.

Tapelo Xoki and Bandile Shandu are some of the players understood to be nearing a return to competing for matchday squads after recovering from injury, while Miguel Timm is said to have been making progress in training to impress Riveiro for another chance in the team.
