The 56-year-old Frenchman has returned to the men's game after coaching France's women's side between 2023 and the end of the Paris Olympics earlier this year.

In a familiar role, Renard has once again taken charge of the Saudi Arabia national team, whom he coached from 2019 to 2023, including at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The ex-Zambia and Ivory Coast manager agreed to a return following Roberto Mancini's departure from the position last week.

Renard has penned a three-year deal, with the aim of helping Saudi Arabia qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.

Speaking about his return, the experienced tactician suggested he has unfinished business with the Green Falcons.

"I did not intend to leave but when your country knocks on your door, you respond," he stated, as per FIFA's official website.

"My connection with Saudi - the fans, the players and all the memories - I can never forget. I did not finish my story with Saudi yet."

Arguably Renard's most famous moment in his first stint with Saudi Arabia came when he masterminded a historic to 2-1 win over eventual champions Argentina at the World Cup in Qatar.
