Sirino's Secret To Chiefs Form Revealed

Sirino's Secret To Chiefs Form Revealed

The revival of Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Gaston Sirino has coincided with a new lease of life at the club - so what is different with Sirino at Chiefs compared to former club Mamelodi Sundowns?

Sirino, arguably Chiefs' best signing of the previous transfer window currently carries Nasreddine Nabi's team and it's hopes on his shoulders with the impact he has made in just four matches.

The Uruguayan has scored two goals and has had three assists, in three league games and Carling Knockout outing.

Even though the 33-year-old's talent and quality was already undeniable while he was at Sundowns, there seem to be something different about his role, which SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt, whose side was hammered 4-0 by Amakhosi in the Carling Knockout this past weekend, has described as 'cheating'.

"Sirino is difficult to play against because he doesn't play with the game, when the game moves, he doesn't move, he stays. So when the ball gets turned over, it goes to him, he looks like 'How the hell did he get in those positions?', Hunt said on Soccerbeat YouTube Channel.

"So you can get away with it in South Africa but you won't get away with it in… I'm not saying he's not a fantastic player, he'll turn the game over, he'll be out with one or two passes, that's how good he is.

"And he's got an eye for goal, assists, so it's very difficult to play [against him]. I did the whole presentation on the opposition, whatever before games and I said to them, look at what the opposition is doing and he [Sirino] is doing, he hovers around. He's difficult to play against," Hunt said.

Asked if what Sirino is doing is 'cheating', the former Amakhosi coach admitted, although not cheating in a bad way.

"You said it, I didn't say it. But that's basically what it is," the 60-year-old coach added.
