FIFA World Cup champions Argentina remain top the international ranking released by world football's governing body today, 24 October.

The Lionel Messi-led Albiceleste played twice over the recent break, drawing 1-1 with Venezuela and beating Bolivia 6-0 in front of a packed Estadio Mas Monumental in Buenos Aires a few days later.

Messi contributed to five goals in his nation's World Cup qualifier, including a hat-trick that saw him take his international goals tally to 112.

France, meanwhile, are unmoved in second place, with Spain still in third and England still fourth in the top 10. The Three Lions recently confirmed the impending arrival of Thomas Tuchel, who has penned a deal until after the 2026 World Cup in the United States.

Five-time world champions Brazil remain fifth in the standing, ahead of sixth-placed Belgium, while there is a new No. 7 in Portugal.

Roberto Martinez's side have climbed above the Netherlands, who slipped into eighth place in the overall ranking, while Italy have replaced Colombia in ninth.

The Italians thrashed Israel 4-1 in the UEFA Nations League earlier this month, before drawing 2-2 with Belgium.
