Varane Lands Surprise New Role After Retirement

Former Real Madrid and Manchester United defender Raphael Varane handed landed a surprising new role after retiring last month.

The Frenchman announced his surprise retirement after just two months with Serie A outfit Como.

While he has hung his boots, it has now been confirmed Varane will become a board member at the Italian club.

 "Being a top-level sportsman comes with joy, sacrifice, and the constant drive to push beyond limits. Throughout my career, I've been motivated by a desire to improve and strive for excellence," Varane told the club's official website.

"Transitioning from the field to the boardroom isn't the end of my football journey; it's a new beginning that I'm looking forward to.

"Joining the board of Como allows me to continue contributing to the sport while shaping its future."
