A familiar mentor has emerged as a candidate for the head coach position of AmaZulu FC as part of the changes that are taking place at the club.
Following the loss of Usuthu against fellow Betway Premiership strugglers Marumo Gallants on the weekend, the Durban-based club's management decided to part ways with Pablo Franco Martin who has been the team's head coach, as well as his assistant Aitor Van Den Brule.

After playing three matches already this season, AmaZulu are yet to pick up a single point hence the decision to part ways with the Spanish duo.
According to sources, former Richards Bay FC coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi is one of the candidates for the Usuthu role.
Vilakazi, who acquired his CAF B License earlier this year, was lauded for saving the top flight status of Richards Bay at the end of last season through the play-offs.
Kanu, as the 41-year-old is known in football circles, was appointed as the coach of AmaZulu's reserve team for the start of the current campaign, with indications that he is now earmarked for a role in the first team.

"He (Vilakazi) is one of the coaches that are considered for the role. Even if it's on a caretaker basis, don't be surprised if he gets a role in the first team. He is one of the candidates," said the source.
Vilakazi previously also held roles at Chippa United and Golden Arrows.
