Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Jomo Cosmos striker Alton Meiring has passed away, aged 48.
According to reports, Meiring was allegedly stabbed to death, a little over 10 years since retirement from the professional game.

Meiring will be remembered as the only player to have scored for nine different clubs in the PSL. He found the back of the net for Hellenic, Cape Town Spurs, Mother City, Sundowns, Manning Rangers, AmaZulu, Golden Arrows, Platinum Stars and Jomo Cosmos. Born in Cape Town, Meiring made two Bafana Bafana appearances in his career in 2006.
In a statement, Luso Africa FC confirmed the death of Meiring. He was working closely with the club, helping out in both the youth and senior teams.
