The experienced striker has been without a team since leaving Turkish club Adana Demirspor at the end of the past season.

Balotelli, 34, has lived the life of a footballing journeyman since his departure from City in 2013, having had spells in France, Italy, Turkey and Switzerland.

His reputation and ability were reportedly set to take him India next, but the Times of India reports that Indian Super League club Kerala Blasters have since turned down the chance to land his signature.

The decision from the outfit is believed to have left the 36-time Italy international embarrassed, perhaps due the forward having represented some top clubs in his career to date.

Balotelli first made a name for himself in Italy at Inter Milan, for whom he played three seasons of senior football before his transfer to the Citizens in 2010.

After scoring 30 goals in 80 appearances, he returned to his home country to play for AC Milan.
