According to Marca, the veteran defender was recently spotted participating in a casual game in Barcelona.

The ex-Brazil international was released from jail in March after posting a €1 million (R19.8 million) bail, but appears in court once a week.

Alves was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in 2022, although he has firmly denied any wrongdoing.

It is believed he has appealed the court's ruling and checks in once a week to prove he is still in the city.

Despite having kept a relatively low profile, Alves was seen playing football on an artificial pitch in Barcelona wearing a Boca Juniors jersey.

Marca reports that the game was organised through a mobile app that connects people to one other with the objective of meeting for a game.

Alves is among the most decorated players in history, although his arrest and subsequent conviction has greatly damaged his reputation.
