Al Ahly could reportedly be set to lose one of their star performers to a Europe before the transfer window closes.

Defender Mohamed Abdelmonem has reportedly attracted interest from Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.

The 25-year-old has been a key performer for the Red Devils in the last couple seasons and a real leader in the heart of the defence.

Reports in France claim that the African champions have already turned down a bid for the Egyptian defender from Nice.

According to Foot Mercato, Al Ahly have now valued Abdelmonem at $6 million (R100 million) after rejecting an initial bid from the French club.

The reports stem from the news that Nice see the Al Ahly defender as a direct replacement for Jean Clair Todibo, who is keen on a move to Serie A side Juventus.

Transfer journalist Di Marzio also reported that Italian outfit Bologna are also admirers of the 25-year-old defender.

Should a move go through, Abdelmonem would be the ninth Egyptian player to play in the French top-flight, according to KingFut.

As for now, the defender is focused on helping Al Ahly defend their Egyptian Premier League title, as they sit top of the table.
