Kaizer Chiefs look set to miss out on securing one of their top reported targets, as the Bafana Bafana forward is close to finalizing a deal with Tunisian powerhouse Esperance.
Elias Mokwana, who has been a key player for Sekhukhune United, departed South Africa over the weekend to complete his medical examinations and seal his proposed move to Tunisia.

Sources close to Sekhukhune United have indicated that Mokwana's transfer is nearly complete.
"Seriously speaking, it's as good as a done deal. It's a three-year contract which will run until June 2027 plus a one-year option. Things have been agreed. He is gone for medicals. Actually he flew out on Saturday and by Monday all the necessary negotiations will have been finalised and he will be officially an Esperance player. Everything has gone on well between the two teams and both teams are happy," the Siya source stated.
The potential transfer move comes after Esperance closely monitored Mokwana's performances both at club, and then at international level for South Africa, according to a second insider.
"They are very happy with him. They have been following his performances both for the national team and Sekhukhune United and they didn't want to lose him. So, now that he is in Tunisia I know everything will go well for him. He left on Saturday for medicals and after that the two teams will just wrap up the deal. To say the least, he is gone to Esperance," the second source stated.

The 25-year-old former Platinum City Rovers player had a notable season last year, featuring in 25 Premiership league games and scoring four goals with four assists. His performances for Bafana Bafana in recent games have added to his growing reputation.
Efforts to reach Mokwana's agency, Cream Sports Management, were unsuccessful while preparing this report.
Soccer Laduma also contacted Sekhukhune United but received no response by the time this story was published.
If the deal eventually goes through, the transfer could mark a significant step in Mokwana's career to join one of Africa's most prestigious clubs, while it would represent a missed opportunity for Chiefs, who were linked to the player.
