The mammoth price tag Mamelodi Sundowns forked out for their latest South American recruit has been revealed, with the club surpassing its own transfer record in the process.
Sundowns have shown very little restraint in their quest for local and continental dominance, particularly in the CAF Champions League, a competition they last won in 2016.
As a result, the Brazilians have made it their means to recruit some of the best players worldwide - and have put their money where their mouths are - quite literally.

The Chloorkop-based outfit recently announced the signing of Brazilian forward Arthur de Oliveira Sales from Belgian side SK Lommel, with the club stating he has penned a long-term deal with the reigning DStv Premiership champions.
Now, Belgian journalist Sven Claes revealed the 22-year-old's price tag and it is truly staggering!
In exchange for the player, Sundowns are believed to have parted ways with €3.2 million (±R63.7 million), ripping apart their own transfer record.
Chilean midfielder Marcelo Allende is believed to have cost Sundowns €2.6 million (±R51 million), which was a club record at the time.
Official stats dictate that the lanky player managed 10 goals and three assists in 31 appearances all season, though it remains to be seen if he is able to justify his incredible transfer fee in Sundowns colours.
