The latest world rankings make for interesting reading for many of Africa's biggest sides.

Aside from Bafana Bafana, who moved up two places and are now 57th on the planet, as well as Tunisia and Egypt, who maintained their respective positions of 36th and 41st, every other nation in the continent's top 10 suffered drop.

The top African nation, Morocco, has dropped two places, and are now ranked in 14th position despite going undefeated since their elimination from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The champions of Africa, Ivory Coast, have also seen their ranking suffer in the updated standings as they have gone from 37th place to 38th place.

This despite, like the Atlas Lions, being undefeated since becoming triumphant at the AFCON in their home nation.

In the subsequent fixtures after the tournament, the Elephants notched an impressive victory over South American powerhouse Uruguay.

Senegal, Nigeria, Cameroon, Mali and Algeria all moved down as well.

While many of Africa's top sides have suffered a drop, there has been some major rises elsewhere in the world.

After winning their record-setting fourth UEFA European Championship against England this past weekend, Spain saw their ranking improve by five places as they are now third in the world.

Above them are France, whom La Furia Roja beat in the semi-finals at EURO 2024, and Argentina. La Albiceleste retain their No. 1 spot following their own continental triumph this past weekend, when they retained their Copa America title after defeating Colombia in the decider.
