The Albiceleste claimed a dramatic 1-0 victory over Colombia in extra-time at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.

The match was delayed following crowd chaos ahead of kick-off, which delayed the start time by an hour and 15 minutes as fans without tickets attempted to get into the ground.

Messi, 37, was taken off after 66 minutes following an apparent ankle injury and had to watch the rest of the encounter from the sidelines as his teammates pushed for a winner.

Colombia's strong performance, however, made it difficult for the 2022 FIFA World Cup champions to create chances as the teams were forced into 30 minutes of extra-time.

Substitute Lautaro Martinez eventually scored what proved to be the match-winner in the 112th minute after getting on the end of a smart through-ball from Giovani Lo Celso for his fifth goal of the Copa campaign.

Argentina's latest triumph means head coach Lionel Scaloni has now claimed three major trophies since his appointment in 2018, with this being his second Copa America title.

Martinez, meanwhile, ended the tournament as its top goalscorer.
