Wydad President Reveals Rulani's Mandate

Wydad Casablanca president Hicham Ait Menna has revealed some of the targets set for new head coach Rulani Mokwena ahead of the new season.

The South African coach was unveiled by the Moroccan giants on Thursday evening after penning a three-year deal.

Wydad endured a disappointing 2023/2024 campaign, after finishing in sixth position, meaning they will not feature in the CAF Champions League or Confederation Cup.

Ait Menna, however, has revealed that Mokwena has the duty to get the side challenging for the league title and Throne Cup, while the team are also set to compete in the FIFA Club World Cup.

He is a coach with a winning spirit and will prepare Wydad to be at the level that the fans expect from him in the Club World Cup, as well as compete to regain the league title and the Throne Cup, which mean a lot to us and have been absent from the team's coffers for many years," the president said in an interview with Kooora.

Ait Menna also revealed the contracts could only be completed once Mokwena arrived and called for the fans to be patient.

"It was not possible to complete them before the coach arrived. He is the specialist, and he is the one responsible for determining the type of players who should play for Wydad.

"The team's fans must be patient and everything will be fine."
