Mayo Alleges Shocking Injury Experience At Chippa

Mayo Alleges Shocking Injury Experience At Chippa

Released Chippa United forward Khanyisile Mayo has come out to reveal how difficult life was for him, alleging that the Chilli Boys failed to get him operated on an injury he had sustained in April last year.

Mayo is one of the 16 players Chippa confirmed as departures last week, with his contract officially coming to an end on the last day of June.

Mayo, the younger brother of Khanyisa Mayo who is at Cape Town City, revealed to the Siya crew that he has an ACL Reconstruction and Meniscus injury and has not played football in over a year. He alleges that Chippa did not assist him in getting operated and claims he now has to pay from his own pocket.

"This past season it's been hectic because of what I'm currently going through with the club. I got injured while I was on duty and the club hasn't operated on me since last year April and I've been out for the whole season and I haven't been playing football for one year and three months just because I need to get operated. Now I have to do that myself because I have been released by the club and I'm no longer their responsibility," he said to the Siya crew.

He added: "They've been running around in circles knowing that my contract will soon expire, so that they can release me."

The 24-year-old Mayo confirmed to the Siya crew that his matter will be dealt with at a legal level.

"Someone contacted me from the Players' Union and took my matter up to court and I've been waiting for some feedback. Surely I'll get it during this week."

Soccer Laduma contacted Chippa United for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.
