Exclusive: Mbatha's Permanent Pirates Move Details

The Siya crew understands Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United will finalise a permanent move for midfielder Thalente Mbatha after the Nedbank Cup final, with a three-year deal expected to be completed.

Mbatha signed a loan deal in the January transfer window, with Pirates having an option to make the deal permanent. As things stand, Pirates are preparing to make the deal permanent and the Siya crew has been informed that all the figures have been pre-agreed, so the two clubs will not be opening fresh negotiations.

The 24-year-old has become a regular at Pirates after struggling to break into the starting line-up at SuperSport and is endearing himself to the Bucs faithful with his solid performances in the middle of the park.

Speaking to the Siya crew, SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews said: "Pirates have an option on Thalente which we will finalise after the Nedbank Cup final."

Mbatha's agent, Mike Makaab, recently told the Siya crew that he would be surprised if Mbatha's permanent move to the Buccaneers does not materialise.

"In the loan deal, Pirates will have the final say. It's a loan, with an option to exercise a permanent deal. If that happens, all the figures have been pre-agreed, so there is no need for a renegotiation. All the figures have been pre-agreed. It's just up to Pirates now to make a final decision and to exercise their option. I would be very surprised if it did not happen."
