Kaizer Chiefs are not expected to retain the service of Cavin Johnson as the head coach next season having appointed him in October last year when the hierarchy decided to sack Molefi Ntseki.

The Siya Crew understand it was Johnson who then also opted to keep Dillon Sheppard as his assistant when Arthur Zwane was demoted to the junior ranks, but 'Sheppy' is yet to know where he stands, going forward.

Sheppard joined Amakhosi in 2020 to form part of new coach Gavin Hunt's technical team having worked with the four-time title winning mentor at the now defunct Bidvest Wits, clinching a league championship together there.

At the start of the campaign the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana star entered into the final year of his contract, which is set to expire on June 30.

The 45-year-old has made strides in his career and recently went abroad to elevate himself by studying for his UEFA Pro License course, but whether Chiefs would value that experience enough to hold on to him is unclear.

Word reaching the Siya desk is that Amakhosi are considering a few options having received numerous CVs from coaches around the world, although a decision is only expected during the off season along with player movements.

Sheppard, it's believed, is waiting to hear what next steps the Glamour Boys want to take before potentially looking for a job elsewhere.
