Bayern Chief Makes Shock Arsenal Admission

Bayern Chief Makes Shock Arsenal Admission

A Bayern Munich chief has made a stunning admission ahead of his club's UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie against Arsenal.

The German giants are preparing for the first leg of their quarter-final against the Gunners on Tuesday, and head into the match on the back of yet another disappointing performance in the Bundesliga.

This past weekend, the Bavarians let a two-goal lead slip to lose 3-2 to 10th-placed Heidenheim, a result that means Bayer Leverkusen need just one more league win to end Bayern's 11-year title-winning streak.

Speaking after the game, club director Max Eberl was asked about the hope he has ahead of the team's trip to London.

"At the moment, I can't think of much. We can say: 'Okay, the injured are coming back', but that has always been the case at Bayern in the last few months," he replied, according to Goal.

"We haven't really become stable. It won't work as easily as saying: Okay, it's Champions League, Arsenal.

"I already said after the Dortmund game that we would have a test of character in Heidenheim. We passed it in the first half and failed in the second half.

"Now, we have the Champions League game against Arsenal. All respect to Heidenheim, but they are a bit better than Heidenheim in terms of football. In terms of attitude, they have the same level as Heidenheim. There's a lot coming up."

Bayern have crashed out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage in the past four seasons running, while Arsenal are in the last eight for the first time since 2010.
