Young Africans coach Miguel Gamondi hit out the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) after his side were eliminated by Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League.

The Tanzanian outfit missed out on a first-ever semi-final appearance in the competition after losing to the Brazilians on penalty.

However, the visitors did feel hard done by after they had a goal ruled out by VAR, although Gamondi thinks the refereeing team got it wrong on the day.

"It's impossible to fight with VAR, I think it's very unfair what happened here, but if I speak here I'll be sanctioned," Gamondi told SABC Sport after the game.

"Even the Aziz Ki he told me coach from my mother it was goal. But honestly to get knocked out for a goal like that.

"But I (have) experience (this situation before) when I was in Agadir, we played Zamalek and they scored one goal like that, didn't see. When you play a big team like that, it's unfair but it's like that what can I say.

"Only to congratulate to my players, they were fighting, I think they deserved more because even we created more chances than Sundowns today.

"Sundowns created clear, clear chances but we created two-three clearer chances but football is like that. It's not good for African football seeing what happened here today."

Gamondi continued, "Of course, but it's football we play against the big teams again. But these big teams don't need the help from VAR, I'm very disappointed," Gamondi said.

"I think all the supporters from Yanga, all the 30 million, they must see, they did something against the country and this is very bad.

"We need to continue, I'm very proud what we did especially when we played with three key players, we played well. Don't forget that we played against Al Ahly and now Sundowns, but I repeat very disappointed with the referees today."
