Yanga Chief Sends Message To Downs Ahead Of CAFCL QF 2nd Leg

Yanga Chief Sends Message To Downs Ahead Of CAFCL QF 2nd Leg

The president of Young Africans has sent a message to Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of their crunch CAF Champions League quarter-final second leg at Loftus Versfeld this weekend.

This Friday, Young Africans, also known as Yanga, will be looking progress to the competition's semi-finals for the very first time when they contest their continental clash in the South African capital.

Masandawana are undefeated at home in all competitions this season, but perhaps fortunately for the Tanzanian outfit, a score draw will be enough for them to eliminate their DStv Premiership counterparts.

The two sides played out a hard-fought 0-0 stalemate at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium this past weekend.

For all the possession that Rulani Mokwena's charges enjoyed in the encounter, it was Miguel Gamondi's side who created more chances as they managed four shots on target compared to Sundowns' two.

Yanga president Hersi Said was encouraged by his team's display at home, and while some may presume that Ka Bo Yellow has the upper hand heading into the decisive second leg at their home ground, the Tanzanian executive has emphasised the need to not count his side out.

"We commend our players and technical staff for their impressive performance. The battle is not over until it is over," he said, as per The Citizen.

Yanga earned their first-ever victory on South African soil last season when they beat Marumo Gallants 2-1 in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final, so they will be hoping for more of the same this time against the 16-time DStv Premiership champions.
