Rulani: I'm Not Happy With Lorch...

PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA - MARCH 17: Thembinkosi Lorch of Mamelodi Sundowns celebrates his goal with coach Rulani Mokwena during the Nedbank Cup, Last 16 match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Maritzburg United at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Pretoria on March 17, 2024 in Pretoria, South Africa. Thembinkosi Lorch proved to be Mamelodi Sundowns' hero in their Nedbank Cup round of 16 win against Maritzburg United, but his coach Rulani Mokwena still demands more of the talented star.

Sunday evening saw Lorch rack up his second and third goals for the Brazilians who left it late to seal their progression to the Nedbank Cup quarter-final.

The now famous video of Mokwena outlining exactly what he wants from 'Nyoso' keeps showing its head, with the coach making no secret of his desire to unlock the former PSL Player of the Season's full potential.

With Lorch seemingly adjusting to life inside the Sundowns dressing room, Mokwena has revealed why he is still not fully satisfied with the former Orlando Pirates' star's performances.

"Lorch, am I happy? No," he told journalists.

"But I'm quietly content and he knows I want more and that's from everybody. I want more from Gaston [Sirino] and I want more from [Matias] Esquivel, I want more from Bongani Zungu. I want more from Tebza [Teboho Mokoena]. I want more from Marcelo [Allende]. I want more, I'm always that guy I want more from myself. You know, I hold myself to very, very high standards. And I demand a lot for myself and therefore I demand a lot from the players too. But I love them probably even more than I love them before kickoff and very special group, so I understand that I'm very privileged to be their coach," Mokwena said.

Sundowns, like most teams, will have the privilege of a rare 12-day break before resuming CAF Champions League action on March 30 against Tanzania's Young Africans.
