Born in Tembisa, Lerato Chabangu's rise to superstardom was a rapid one. The attacking midfielder was a regular in the Sundowns set up in his early 20's, seeing him make enough money to be a breadwinner at home.

On his "I Blew It" episode, Chabangu's family explained how generous he was with his money and that he made sure to look after his family.

He bought his mom a four bedroom house in Kempton Park, which cost him R800k in the early 2000s, when he was playing for Sundowns.

"I would give them R5 000 and say; 'Buy groceries, you'll figure out what to do with the rest," said Chabangu on the episode, with his brother revealing that things started to take a turn with Lerato's drinking.

Chabangu brother mentioned that the former Bafana star would always want to kick back and relax with a drink after training, with another family member saying if "Ace" at the time, could stay up and drink all night, he would.

"All you need is love" also spent big on vehicles, buying himself a VW Golf 5 after his 21st birthday, an Audi S3 a few years later and his family a Kombi, which became a party bus for the player.

"I was a young man with so many zeros in my bank account. I would go out drinking with friends, my cooler box was always full. One moment we're in Soweto, the next thing we're driving to Pretoria. Next thing, we're taking a trip to Durban, then Bloemfontein, we would get there and party with girls," revealed Chabangu.

"I had so much money, I was burning a hole in my pocket. There were so many zero's, I decided to spoil myself," added Chabangu.

At the peak of his partying days, Chabangu said that he could spend around R30 000 per day and with all the money he's spent on vehicles bought in cash and property, the 38-year-old has fallen on hard times.
