On Thursday, experienced midfielder Toni Kroos announced he will play for Germany in their international friendlies against France and the Netherlands in March.
The 34-year-old, capped on 106 occasions for Die Mannschaft, has not played for his national side since 2021, after hanging up his boots following Euro 2020.
Taking to Instagram, Kroos revealed head coach Julian Nagelsmann personally requested he made himself available ahead of the tournament, which will be hosted by Germany.
"I'll be playing for Germany again from March. Why? Because I was asked by the coach and I'm up for it," he wrote.
"I'm sure that much more is possible with the team at the European Championship than most people think right now."
Kroos was an important member of Germany's 2014 FIFA World Cup-winning squad, although the majority of his success has come in the white of Los Blancos.
