Insider: Amakhosi Not Giving Up On Mosimane?

Insider: Amakhosi Not Giving Up On Mosimane?

Kaizer Chiefs could be back in for Abha Club head coach Pitso Mosimane for the start of the next PSL season, the Siya crew has been informed.

Soccer Laduma had previously reported how the former Al Wahda coach was out of the running for Chiefs in January. The Siya crew had discussed that Mosimane turned down Chiefs because he was going to sign for Abha Club instead

Mosimane did go on to sign for Abha, but since then, his short-term contract in the Saudi Pro League brings the coach back into the equation. Mosimane's contract expires at the end of the campaign in Saudi Arabia as his mandate is to save Abha Club from relegation, but the door is expected to be open for the South African's services thereafter.

Siya sources had indicated in the past how Mosimane could be Chiefs' first choice and that whatever happens with Abha Club, wouldn't change the PSL club's motivation to try to land the coach in future.

Sources have indicated that Amakhosi will be pushing for a Mosimane deal at the end of the season, and one can expect informal talks to be taking place behind the scenes over the next six months.

"It's true Chief are not giving up on coach Pitso (Mosimane). You know they have spoken about it before and that could be because he has signed a short-term contract in Saudi Arabia. You know it is until the end of the season. And that's when he could join Chiefs," said the Siya source.

"The deal between Chiefs and coach Pitso (Mosimane) is a positive move and they will have a chance to get him at the start of next season. They have hope in that," the source told Soccer Laduma.

A second Siya source underlined the high regard Chiefs have for the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach.

"Pitso has signed a six-month contract and that's what gives them hope that their talks could yield results. They believe in Mosimane. That's the situation right now and it will remain like this until the start of next season," the source observed.

At the moment Amakhosi have interim coach Cavin Johnson in charge to steady the ship, a mentor who had once worked with Mosimane at Al Ahly in Egypt. Johnson has impressed Chiefs management with his performances since taking over from Molefi Ntseki, and the Siya crew has reported how the club is confident he could even remain at the helm if required, at least until the end of this campaign.

Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs, as well as Mosimane's agency MT Sports for comment but no response was received at the time of publishing.
