Liverpool Star: Klopp's Decision To Leave Shocked Us All

Andrew Robertson has revealed how he and his Liverpool teammates reacted to Jurgen Klopp's decision to step down at the end of the season.

One of Liverpool's most high-profile players has revealed how he and his teammates reacted when manager Jurgen Klopp told them he will be stepping down at the end of the season.

Last week Friday, the Reds announced that the German tactician has decided to call time on his tenure at the six-time UEFA Champions League winners, and will leave his post when the campaign concludes.

Klopp's deal in England was initially set to expire in 2026, but the 56-year-old explained he is running out of energy and wants to experience a "normal life" before it is too late for him to do so.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund manager, who has been at Anfield since 2015, also revealed that he communicated his decision to the club's board in November, but was believed to have only told his players on the morning of the announcement.

Left-back Andrew Robertson has admitted that he and his colleagues were left stunned and did not know "where to look", although he insisted the team will look to give Klopp the best farewell possible from now until the season ends.

"Yeah, I think, like the rest of the world, it was a bit of shock when he told us all. Nobody really knew where to look or what to do, but you have to respect his decision," he said, as per the Mirror.

"He's obviously thought long and hard about it, he's not a rash person, he's obviously thought along with it in terms of with his family and everything like that, and for what he's done for this club we'll all be forever grateful, and yeah he doesn't want the fans singing his song and that but I think he's going to lose that battle unfortunately. I think the fans always want to say a proper goodbye to him.

"But for us players, the one thing he has always told us is that it has to be business as usual, we have to keep fighting on all fronts, we have to try and keep winning games and hopefully that results in giving him a send-off that he truly deserves."
