VIDEO | A Heated Argument Between Morocco's Coach & Congo's Skipper

Drama ensued following DR Congo's draw to Morocco after a couple of spats took place after the full-time whistle.

How did the drama kick off?

The story

Following the Democratic Republic of Congo's 1-1 draw against a more favoured Moroccan side, tempers flared between Congolese players and the Atlas Lions.

Congolese skipper Chancel Mbemba and Moroccan head coach Walid Regragui and striker Youssef El-Neysri were at the heart of the action.

Let's take a closer look at why things went sideways...

DR Congo vs Morocco

A melee broke out between Morocco and DR Congo players and coaching staff at the end of their 1-1 draw at the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

The Group F encounter saw the Atlas Lions maintain their place at the top, with Congo in second place, as the tense draw saw goals from Achraf Hakimi in the sixth-minute and an equaliser from Silas Katompa Mvumpa late in the second half after Cedric Bakambu missed a penalty.

Tensions were clearly high at full-time when Morocco coach Walid Regragui approached Congo captain Chancel Mbemba, to shake his hand and to argue with the defender.

Regragui and Mbemba shared a tense handshake, with the former seemingly saying some stern words to the Olympique Marseille man, with the two having a go at each other afterwards.

The players and staff stepped in to add to the confrontation between Regragui and Mbemba, which escalated with Youssef En-Nesyri chasing down The Leopards skipper down the tunnel, while being dragged back by goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou.
