Ahead of a league match that was set to be played on Friday, a bus carrying the Mouloudia Club El Bayadh team in Algeria was involved in an accident that cost goalkeeper Zakaria Bouziani and assistant coach Khalid Muftah their lives.

The horrific incident was confirmed by the Algerian Football Federation, who also suspended all football in the country until further notice as a result of what happened.

El Bayadh were travelling to Tizi Ouzou for an Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 encounter against JS Kabylie before the bus transporting its members overturned.

CAF has since put a statement out on social media to send its condolences to those impacted by Wednesday's events.

"CAF is saddened by the news of the passing of members of Algeria League 1 side, Mouloudia Club El Bayadh who passed on while on their way to honour a league fixture," the continent's body wrote.
