'I Disagree On The PSL Title Race'

'I Disagree On The PSL Title Race'

With Mamelodi Sundowns being the only team yet to lose a game in the Premiership and with a significant advantage on the PSL table with games in hand, their former midfielder Brent Carelse is still sending them a warning for the rest of the campaign.

Carelse speaks exclusively to Soccer Laduma, saying that there's still a long way to go in the title race and discusses the Brazilians' mentality, attitude and knowledge that the league is not as easy as it looks on paper.

"Yes, for now the league is looking as if Sundowns have already won it but I choose to disagree with people who think like that. Sundowns know that the league title battle is not easy," Carelse told the Siya Crew.

"But knowing how their mentality and attitude work, they can still fight and win it. But they have still to fight for those points to win it. Though they have four games in hand it doesn't mean they have 12 points already. They have to play and win those games to get the points. So we can't give them the title yet. It's still far from over.

"Of course they would want to fight and win it but mind you the other teams are also fighting for the same league title. Sundowns know and everyone knows it's not easy to win the league title. It's not over yet until the last game.

"But for now, Sundowns have the advantage. Other teams should give them a run for their money and you never know what may happen at the end of the season," Carelse concluded.

On Wednesday, Sundowns defeated their crosstown rivals SuperSport United 2-0 in the Tshwane Derby and their next PSL game is on February 6 away to AmaZulu.

The Brazilians will be stinging from their 1-0 defeat away to TP Mazembe in the Champions League this past weekend, and will be feeling the fatigue of participating in the African Football League recently.
