Pirates And Marou To Shake Hands?

Pirates And Marou To Shake Hands?

Orlando Pirates are believed to be reconsidering their decision on Souaibou Marou, who has been struggling for game-time since arriving in South Africa in January.

The Cameroonian striker is yet to play in the DStv Premiership or any of the domestic competitions so far this season and has appeared to be down in the pecking order under Jose Riveiro. His only involvement so far has been in the CAF Champions League preliminary stages, where he made two appearances.

According to sources, the Soweto giants are concerned about the 22-year-old's lack of regular game-time after he was signed with high hopes he'd be the go-to man for goals this season following his exploits back home for Coton Sport FC.

Marou was recruited in January on a two-and-a-half-year contract and indications are that Pirates are now considering negotiating a settlement to part ways.

Initially, the club had planned to send the player on loan but decided to keep him after he struggled to attract potential suitors.

"Pirates are likely to part ways with Cameroonian striker Souaibou Marou. He has failed to live up to the expectations and the club is willing to allow him to go," said a source.

"Before the start of the season, the club wanted to send him on loan, but there were no clubs that showed interest and that's why he stayed. The guy has struggled for game-time and the club is willing to negotiate a settlement for him," added the source.
