SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt felt his side had enough to chances to get a result against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Sundowns clamed the bragging rights in the Tshwane derby after defeating Matsatsantsa 2-0 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

While SuperSport did miss a number of chances, Hunt also admitted the defending for the first goal could have been better.

"We had so many opportunities, more than them, we should have won the game, just lapse of defending with the first goal, I mean they never had a shot at goal, so ja it's disappointing," Hunt told SuperSport after the game.

"But then you got to commend the kids, they've done brilliantly, they are working but obviously the level is (higher). But still we could have won the game.

"I mean if we defend properly, we didn't. First goal was from the side, on the byline here, we got to defend that better, we didn't, second goal, you know quality, so. But in saying that I can't fault the youngsters. It is what it is."

Hunt continued, "Before they scored we could have been 2-0 up, 3-0 up, it is what it is, ja. Maybe they should be winning a little easier against a team like us but we did well, I can't fault the players, it is what it is," Hunt went on.

"Changed the shape, went forward a little bit more, I thought we were good, they had the ball but we had the chances, Shandre (Campbell) came on, I thought he could have had a hat-trick in 20 minutes you know.

"(But) he's a kid, he does well, we've got keep battling, you see our squad depleted a little bit but we need to stand up, there's enough quality here in terms of mentality, we just need to get the quality better but hey it is what it is."
