African football's biggest international competition is once again on the horizon, with many of the continent's major nations set to once again stake a claim to being the best.
While fans all over the world will be looking forward to seeing who is crowned kings of the continental showpiece in February 2024, the competition creates issues for European teams as they could potentially be without the services of some of their best players for more than a month.
The Bavarian giants are one of the big clubs in world football that will be affected by the competition as they brace themselves for the departure of Moroccan fullback Noussair Mazraoui.
The 26-year-old has established himself in Thomas Tuchel's starting XI this season, but with the Atlas Lions heavily favoured to win AFCON, the German tactician could be without the defender until the middle of February.
Given the congested schedule for clubs at the beginning of the year, losing big players is not ideal, but according to Bild, the former Paris Saint-Germain boss and his current sporting director Christoph Freund are working closely to find reinforcements for Mazraoui's likely absence during the January window.
