Too often we see former footballers who spent their entire careers mucking around turn into expert analysts when their playing days are over. Kevin-Prince Boateng has become the latest ex-baller to make himself look silly. Here is what he said!

With pressure mounting on Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, everyone has naturally got an opinion on how the tide can turn at Old Trafford, and almost all of them ignore the important context that surrounds a majorly complicated issue. I won't dive into those problems too much nor will I share my beliefs on how matters can improve, but rather provide my opinion on some of the remarks former Ghana midfielder Boateng made when speaking on Rio Ferdinand's podcast recently.
Boateng: I think he [Ten Hag] has got to go. From what I'm seeing, there's no energy. What he did to Ronaldo and all that stuff, I don't think he is on the level to coach Manchester United.
Ten Hag is certainly no Pep Guardiola, but he did pull off the unimaginable when he guided the Red Devils to a third-place finish in the Premier League last season. The Dutchman also took United to two cup finals in his debut campaign, winning one and losing the other to eventual treble winners Manchester City. Of course, the 53-year-old shouldn't be excused from criticism, but he has absolutely shown he can deal with big personalities in a way that benefits the team. Boateng references "what he did to Ronaldo", but who can honestly say United's 2022/23 season didn't improve following the Portuguese forward's departure?
Boateng: He [Ronaldo] was the top scorer and he just kicked him out. He just went against the best player in the team, you don't do that. You have to give him respect. There's ways to let a player off and I think he chose the wrong way.
Again, I'm not really sure Boateng paid any attention to what actually happened at United last season. Ten Hag didn't "go against" Ronaldo. He simply started to believe the team were better co-ordinated without the then-37-year-old up front. The Dutchman's system requires its forward players to contribute defensively out of possession, something Ronaldo understandably wasn't able to offer. Ten Hag eventually began to leave him out of his starting XI, and this led to Ronaldo doing an interview, while still contracted to the club, in which he publicly slammed Ten Hag and his teammates. Talk about doing things "the wrong way"…
