Kaizer Chiefs have revealed that the 2023/24 season would be Itumeleng Khune's last as a player with the club, however, it seems that the Glamour Boys have already identified his long-term replacement for the club's captain.

Chiefs have a rich history of goalkeepers Brian Baloyi, Rowen Fernandez, Emile Baron amongst the more recent greats. Khune will undoubtedly go down in the history books as one of the Glamour Boys' finest.
The man who hails from Ventersdorp in the North West entered his 17th season with Chiefs and recently made history when he broke his own record by making his 364th appearance for the club - the most number of games played for the club in the PSL era.
But all good things, as they say, comes to an end and at the start of this season, Chiefs revealed that Khune's latest one-year contract, would be his last with the club as an active player.
The club has earmarked a coaching role for 'Mzansi's finest' once he hangs up his gloves.
In the meantime, indications are that the club has identified a successor for Khune from the club's development structures and are understood to have already started grooming the youngster.
Lanky 20-year-old Lungile Nkosi is the man Chiefs are believed to be looking at, to fill Khune's gloves in future. The Katlehong-born star recently returned from a lengthy nine-month layoff due to injury to form part of Chiefs' DStv Diski Challenge Squad.
Nkosi is one of two Chiefs players who have been roped in by coach Molefi Ntseki to train with the club's first team, alongside high-flying Donay Jansen.
Chiefs do have the likes of Brandon Petersen, Bruce Bvuma and Bontle Molefe as part of their goalkeeping department with Khune in tandem – but indications are that they have set their sights on a long-term future successor for the club's number one jersey.
