Transfer Update: Mbappe

Transfer Update: Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe is reportedly set to sign an extension at Paris Saint-Germain that will allow him to still leave the club in 2024.

With Kylian Mbappe having been transfer-listed by Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the transfer window, there has reportedly been a significant new development over his future in France.

Last weekend, the Ligue 1 champions announced that the 24-year-old had been reintegrated into the club's first-team squad after he had been left out of their pre-season tour of Japan due to his unwillingness to sign a new deal with the side.

A statement released by PSG said there had been positive discussions between Mbappe and the club, leading to suggestions that France's captain had changed his tune after previously communicating his desire to move on in 2024.

According to Mundo Deportivo, however, the extension offer on the table is set to guarantee that the French giants will bring in a transfer fee in exchange for his signature at the end of the season.

It is said that Mbappe could extend his contract in Paris by a year or two, but that the deal is also expected to include a clause that means he can leave for an appropriate price ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

This comes after club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi took issue with a formal letter of communication sent to the club by the player in which he outlined his intention to cut ties with PSG when his contract expires in June 2024.

As a result, Mbappe was banished from training with his teammates amid reports claiming the Frenchman was looking to see out his deal until 2024 in order to receive a significant loyalty bonus owed to him.

Real Madrid have been strongly linked with the striker ahead of next year and remain tipped as the club Mbappe will ultimately leave PSG for in the near future.
