Ntseki’s New Boys Receive Thumbs Up

Despite the disappointment of dropping two points in his season opener, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki was left satisfied with the performances of his new recruits, with one player in particular receiving special plaudits from the coach.

Ntseki took charge of the Chiefs dugout for his first official match since being appointed as the club's head coach in June.

The experienced coach fielded a new-look Chiefs side against Chippa United, with four players in Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Given Msimango, Edson Castillo, and Ranga Chivaviro starting for Amakhosi, while Mduduzi Mdantsane and Tebogo Potsane made appearances off the bench.

The Chiefs new recruits gave a good account of themselves, despite playing out a goalless draw, which left Ntseki impressed.

"I think what we did towards the end of the year was to do a squad audit and in that a few players were recruited long before the end of the season, because we were looking forward to the new season to beef up and to strengthen the team," he told the media after the game.

"With the new players that were brought in, these are good quality players and we have done a very good profile on them, that is why we saw some of them play, and I must say some of them did very well. You can see we did not make a mistake to bring these players into the team.

"The only thing is us going forward, how do they gel and see that every game we play it has to be a win. When things are like this it is a disappointment, but they need to be mentally strong going forward."

"They can't dwell much on the setback. We have to turn things around and be positive moving forward. The four players that played today with Potsane coming in, with Given and TT at the back, the combination is very good. I think when you look at Edson Castillo, who has never played in South Africa, you see so much quality from him, so much intelligence in how he manages the game in possession and out of possession, so I think the future looks very bright for the club in terms of quality players we have currently," he concluded.
