The Nigerian marksman was undeniably one of the Europe's most prolific attackers during the 2022/23 campaign, finding the back of the net 31 time in 39 appearances across all competitions to help Gli Azzurri capture their first Scudetto in 33 years.
As a result of his accomplishments, the west African has garnered a lot attention from some of Europe's biggest teams. The likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Chelsea and PSG have all been rumoured to be interested in signing the Nigeria international, but Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis is not eager to sell his talisman.
The Italian executive is a notoriously difficult negotiator, and it seems he intends to stay true to this perception, having placed a €180 million (R3.6 billion) valuation on the Super Eagle, according to L'Equipe.
Les Parisiens seem keenest to land the forward as the record Ligue 1 champions they want to bolster their attack in a big way.
PSG sporting director Luis Campos worked with Osimhen during his time at Lille and is believed to be yearning for a reunion with the forward.
While the French title holders may have a lot of money, it also appears they want to shift away from a culture of overspending in the transfer market, and are willing to wait for the forward's valuation to drop.
Napoli and PSG already have a relationship of sorts, with the Paris-based side having acquired the services of then-Serie A stars Ezequiel Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani from the Neapolitans in the past.
First, it was the Argentine in 2012 for €30 million (R605 million), with the Uruguayan making the move to the French capital the following season for €64.5 million (R1.3 billion), and while they were successful in signing the South Americans duo, it is perhaps difficult seeing a compromise being reached with such a fee being quoted for Osimhen.

If PSG are to pay the mooted price tag, Osimhen would be the most lucrative departure in Serie A history, the most expensive African footballer of all time, and the second-most expensive player in football history.
