The EFA has now hit back and claims that FIFPRO's statement contains inaccurate information.
Statement:
The Egyptian Football Association expresses its strong displeasure with the sudden statement issued by the International Federation of Professional Footballers. It emphasizes that the statement contains a lot of inaccurate information, and if proven, it would be individual cases that do not reflect on all Egyptian clubs.
The Egyptian Football Association would like to clarify a number of important points, in coordination with the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association, as follows:
Firstly, according to the TMS (Transfer Matching System), the number of Egyptian clubs that have accounts is 113, representing the first and second divisions in full, in addition to more than half of the clubs in the third division. Therefore, there is no need to circumvent the process of obtaining international cards.
Secondly, the Egyptian Football Association has approximately 268 foreign players across different levels. Only two complaints were received regarding the withholding of passports over the past four years, and this was due to the completion of players' residency procedures. The passports were immediately returned after the intervention of the association.
Thirdly, the Egyptian Football Association has standardized contracts approved by FIFA and your organization, which have been in effect since 2020.
Fourthly, if some players sign contracts without specifying the value, duration, or currency, it is the responsibility of the player and their agent to research and direct it in the player's best interest. The Egyptian Football Association emphasizes that it only recognizes contracts with complete data and educates players to avoid such mistakes.
Fifthly, the Egyptian Football Association has all the legal procedures in place, granting each party their rights in accordance with the association's regulations approved by FIFA in 2022.
Finally, the Egyptian Football Association strongly rejects and protests against the statement issued by your organization today, especially since the Egyptian Players' Association, which is present and monitoring events in Egypt, did not provide any remarks to the association regarding the content of your statement.
