Ten Hag: Why I Made The Players Watch Man City Celebrate

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has explained why he made his players watch Manchester City lift the FA Cup trophy after the final.

The Red Devils missed out on a second trophy after losing 2-1 to their cross-town rivals at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola's charges are now also one game away from becoming the second English side to win the treble after United.

Ten Hag says making his players watch Man City's celebrations will be fuel for his players ahead of the new season.

"Show respect, always but of course it's a motivation, you have to feel it in your stomach, it hurts," Ten Hag said at his post-game press conference, as per Goal.

"It has to be fuel, our team, my players, [City] deserved it but you have to grab it and that is the next step we have to make."

The Dutch coach says the team should not be conceding from two dead-ball situations.

"We have seen. We win together, we lose together, there were two moments, there were dead balls - one at kick-off and one from a wide free kick - they can't be a goal, we have to be better organised there," he added.

"As a team, we didn't do the jobs we had to do and if you want to win trophies, details in big games make the difference and it's hard to accept but we have to."
