The former Bafana Bafana international worked under the American during their time together at the New York Red Bulls, taking to the sidelines together on 62 occasions before the Wisconsin native decided to go be an assistant to Ralf Rangnick in Germany.

Since then, the former Kaizer Chiefs left-back has been earning his stripes in the MLS and now has taken the reins at the newly formed St. Louis City, where he has won five of his first six matches, and Marsch has insisted that the South African's success has come as no surprise to him.

"It's obviously incredibly impressive [what Bradley is doing]," Marsch said on the MLS 360 Show.

"The day we first brought Bradley into our team in New York, we could see that he was a good guy, a serious guy, a humble guy, a hardworking coach.

"He knew a lot of what he wanted to be as a football coach. Obviously, it's an incredible accomplishment so far, but I'm just really happy for him and not totally surprised."

Next, Carnell will be looking to retain his first position in the Western conference when his St. Louis City side take on the Seattle Sounders in a battle for top spot.
