Ex-Downs Star 'Returns' To Al Ahly

Ex-Downs Star 'Returns' To Al Ahly

A former Mamelodi Sundowns star has reportedly returned to Al Ahly in this transfer window after his loan spell in Saudi Arabia came to an end.

Messi 'Wanted' By Second Club In Saudi Arabia

Mozambique international Luis Miquissone is understood to have made his way back to the Club of the Century after his loan with Saudi Pro League outfit Abha came to a premature end.

The Middle Eastern side has reportedly decided to terminate the winger's season-long loan, according to KingFut.

The 29-year-old joined the record African champions after his impressive displays during the 2020/21 CAF Champions League campaign, but struggled to assert himself in the Al Ahly starting XI.

Since making the reported €850 000 (R15.6 million) move from Simba SC, Miquissone has found the back of the net just five times and assisted on one occasion in his 28 appearances for the Red Devils.

Despite the lack of goals and assists, the Tete native did help Al Ahly capture bronze at the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup, but his efforts were not enough to see him stay in Egypt.

During the off-season, Miquissone was sent on loan to Abha in an effort to help him regain the form that made him such a household name on the African continent, but having only played four games for the Saudi side and being omitted from every matchday squad since 16 December 2022, the Saudi outfit have reportedly decided to part ways with the 47-time capped Mozambican.

It remains to be seen if the former Sundowns player stays in Cairo, but as per the same report, Miquissone is not in Al Ahly's plans for the season.
