Neymar To Miss Rest Of Brazil’s Group Stage At World Cup

Neymar To Miss Rest Of Brazil’s Group Stage At World Cup

Brazil superstar Neymar will miss the rest of his nation's group stage at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Belgium Star Hits Back At De Bruyne And Hazard With 'Too Old' Comment

The Paris Saint-Germain forward picked up an ankle injury during the Selecao's 2-0 victory over Serbia in Group G last week that will rule him out of the remainder of the first round of the tournament.

Neymar was pictured covering his face with his match shirt as he limped off the pitch last Thursday, with images of his swollen ankle later emerging online.

The 30-year-old, as a result, will play no further part in Brazil's remaining two group games, against Switzerland and Cameroon, but could return to action should Tite's men advance to the knockout rounds.

Neymar was left heartbroken in 2014 when he suffered a tournament-ending challenge in his homeland during a quarter-final clash against Colombia, before Brazil famously lost 7-1 to Germany in the semi-finals.

Despite posting incredible numbers since, long-term injuries have been an unwelcome theme in the player's career, after he was also ruled out of Brazil's 2019 Copa America-winning campaign.

Fans in the South American nation have been frustrated with Neymar's fitness record in recent years, believing his off-field actions do not always help him when it comes to what he produces on the field.

Cameroon Star Removed From Squad After Fallout With Head Coach

Neymar took to social media at the weekend to insist he would not let his latest injury harm his chances of competing in Qatar, the words of a footballer who appears to be confident his teammates will manage to progress from their group without problems.
