Rulani On Kermit Spat: I Didn’t Deserve That

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has shed light on his touchline spat with Kermit Erasmus in Saturday evening's Carling Black Label Cup final.

That Sundowns clinched their first ever Black Label Cup title in its altered format should have been the main talking point.

However, it was the heated exchange between former Sundowns striker Erasmus and Mokwena that stole the show, something that happened shortly after Thapelo Xoki's horror challenge on Haashim Domingo, which saw him receive his marching orders.

Speaking to the media after the match, Mokwena hinted that Erasmus applauded the challenge on his former teammate, which was followed by a few choice words aimed in the coach's direction.

"It was disappointing, very disappointing because I mean the tackle was not something you want to see from an opponent, a career-threatening situation like that shouldn't be applauded, but I was just a little bit disappointed and disappointed in how he [Kermit] spoke to me – I just felt I didn't deserve that, especially from him," Mokwena told journalists.

Mokwena did not dive into much detail over why he felt betrayed although he pointed towards the fact that he assisted the player in his personal capacity in addition to that of the club during his tenure at Chloorkop."And maybe that's why I feel in this moment bittersweet because I know what the club has done for him, I know what I personally have done for him. I don't wanna sit here and speak of some of the things but its okay. And I suppose that's what life is about, so we take it on the chin, and we move," he said.Read More: All You Need To Know About Chiefs' Latest TrialistSundowns were crowned champions after they beat Pirates 4-0 in the final at the FNB Stadium.
