The 25-year-old has had to learn the virtue of patience since making the switch from the now-defunct Bloemfontein Celtic to the Brazilians in July last year.
After all, he had joined a team where he was competing for a berth with Lyle Lakay, Aubrey Modiba and Divine Lunga who has since departed on loan, essentially making him the fourth-choice left back option.
The tough competition at Sundowns meant that Ngobeni spent the 2021/22 season out on loan at SuperSport United.
However, he was recalled by Sundowns at the start of the current campaign and with the games coming thick and fast, the Mamelodi native finally got his opportunity in Sundowns' 2-1 win over Golden Arrows at the weekend, something that left Ngobeni visibly delighted.
"Coming from Mamelodi and supporting Sundowns, for me, it's a dream come true, and I wish every kid from Mamelodi can experience what I experienced today. It was a very beautiful experience for me which I will never forget because I'm playing at my home ground. It was tough but eventually after being calm and knowing what I can do, everything just worked well," Ngobeni told the club's media department.

"In the change rooms I was very anxious, and everyone was supporting me and telling me that I'll have a good game and [with it] being my first game. I'm not really looking into the performance because I haven't been playing, but I think I did good and also working hard and being patient, I finally got the opportunity, so I think I did well," he said.
