Orlando Pirates gave a good football lesson to their visitors, Guinea’s AS Kaloum and secured their place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages with an emphatic 6-1 aggregate win.
Pirates beat Kaloum 2-0 away from home before recording a stunning 4-1 win at the Bidvest Wits stadium on Saturday afternoon. As the only South African side still involved in the continental tournaments, Pirates will be hoping to continue with their good run and possibly go as far as the finals of the tournament.
A brace from Thamsanqa Gabuza with Sifiso Myeni and Kermit Erasmus also getting on the score sheet, secured the three points for Bucs.
The decent crowd that came out to witness the game surely got their money’s worth as the Parktown-based club played a true ‘South African style’ of football on the day. Skill, flair and goals were the order of the day with the jubilant supporters kept on the edge of their seats.
Bucs will be joined in Group B by Congolese side, AC Leopards, Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien and Egypt’s Zamalek. The group stages will start from June 26.
