Arsenal's Premier League title hopes were seemingly dashed after a 1-1 draw away to Everton on Saturday afternoon.

Premier League

Result: Everton 1-1 Arsenal

Date: 05 April 2025

Venue: Goodison Park

With one eye on the upcoming UEFA Champions League clash Real Madrid, Gunners coach Mikel Arteta rang the changes as  Ben White, Jakub Kiwior, Jorginho, Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling were all recalled.

Despite the flurry of changes, the Gunners still dominated possession in the early exchanges of the first half but they were thwarted by the Toffees on a few occasions in the opening 15 minutes.

The Gunners got their reward in the 33rd minute when a swift counter attack ended with Sterling playing Trossard, who carved out some space before firing into the far corner.

Arteta showed no signs of slowing down in the second half after introducing Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli at the start of the stanza, with Nwaneri and Sterling making way.

However, the Toffees were afforded a lifeline three minutes after the second period after being awarded a penalty for Myles Lewis-Skelley's foul on Jack Harrison, which allowed Iliman Ndiaye to convert for the equaliser.

The Gunners knew that only a win would suffice in keeping their title hopes alive, especially after Liverpool moved 12 points clear on Wednesday evening.

The visitors did have a chance to secure the win with two minutes left on the clock but an un-marked Mikel Merino sent his header wide of the target from around eight yards out.
