Orlando Pirates have had a turbulent season. From almost reaching the heights of the continent to stumbling to the lows of the country. The team has recently found better form and seems to have stabilized. Most Buccaneer fans look back upon this season with distaste and call for a change. However, there are some that have found the silver lining in it all.
“All in all, I’m really proud of Pirates. When looking at your team, you would be a fool to just look at the position on the log and the goals in the net and come to a conclusion from that.”
These were the words of Orlando Pirates and Supporters Club member Gio De Waal who says that he has never missed a Pirates game since he was 13.
“Soccer is more than that. Soccer is life, soccer is feeling. Those boys and Coach Tinkler this season really showed me fighting spirit. To end up where they are now is huge.”
“These boys have shown fighting spirit this year. Do you remember the 3-3 comeback against Maritzburg United? The 5-0 thumping of Cosmos? The double victory of Kaizer Chiefs… The CCL final for heavens sake? No, I don’t mind where we finish on the league, that was a great season.”
What do you think of Orlando Pirates season? Is there something to be said of the teams performance despite the poor league finish?
