The 33-year-old joined Juventus on Tuesday, and his departure has left a hole in Real's line-up.
It has been reported that president Florentino Perez and new coach Julen Lopetegui are working hard to find a replacement, and have now identified Eden Hazard as their No. 1 target, according to the Daily Mail.
The Belgium captain was one of the standout performers at this year's World Cup, and has rejected multiple contract extension offers from Chelsea already.
Hazard said earlier this week that "Real is everyone's dream", but also insisted he would first focus on the World Cup before making a decision on his future.
Los Blancos, meanwhile, are preparing a whopping €170 million (R2.64 billion) bid to beat eternal rivals FC Barcelona, who are also reportedly interested in the player's services, to the 27-year-old's signature in this window.
