Chippa United struck in the dying stages of the second half to earn themselves a 2-1 victory away to Black Leopards on Wednesday evening.
Leopards coach Cavin Johnson made wholesale changes to the side that lost to Highlands Park, as goalkeeper Rotshidzwa Muleka was handed a rare start alongside the likes of Andriamirado Andrianarimanana, Khuliso Mudau and Joseph Mhlongo.
Thabo Rakhale marked his return to the Chilli Boys with a strike from just outside the box that caught Muleka flat-footed inside the first minute of the match, handing Norman Mapeza's charges a dream start.
Chippa were looking to rediscover the form that saw them collect 13 out of a possible 15 points before they lost to Polokwane City in their opening game of the new year.
On the other hand, Johnson was searching for his first victory in charge of Lidoda Duvha in front of the home fans for the first time after he started his reign with defeat against Highlands Park in Tembisa.
Ten minutes into the second half , Leopards were back on level terms courtesy of a strike from Lesedi Kapinga, who has now registered five league goals this season.
Mapeza finally gave former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Thokozani Sekotlong his Chippa debut off the bench in the last 12 minutes in place of fellow forward Chidi Kwem.
With the match on its edge in the closing minutes, Silas Maziya snatched the winner for the Chilli Boys in the last minute after going clear on goal from a counter-attack to fire a low shot past Muleka.
